History of My Literacy

The earliest book I can remember reading in my life was Winni the Poo. I had seen TV shows of Winni the Poo before and my parents decided to get the book series for me. They had very little words on each page, but they still were considered books which was a good start for me. After a few years of baby books such as this my parents tried to get me to read the Harry Potter series. My brother really enjoyed the books, and I thought I would too but I just never got on to them. The first book series I truly enjoyed was Calvin and Hobbes. Although this may be considered a comic series, I treated it as a novel series and read each one. I would read them all the time, and they were all I read. By the time I had gotten to sixth grade, for every book report or project I had used Calvin and Hobbes. I was in a for change however, when my sixth grade teacher said I could no longer use Calvin and Hobbes. This is when i was introduced to the novel Holes. I came to love this book more than any other, and it is still my favorite novel to this day.

  1. This is very interesting and I also liked the novel Holes very much. So you read more books in your childhood then you do now.

  3. awwww... love Calvin and Hobbes! Gotta be careful, though, spelling Winnie the Pooh... when you forget the "h" at the end you are writing about, well, poo...

  4. Winnie the Poo is a great character, though i never got into the book. I was hooked on the Tv version, along with others like the Land Before Time. I support your position to treat Calvin and Hobbes like a novel series, continue the good work

  5. I agree, to read the Harry Potter series you defintely need to enjoy a certain type of novel. If you are not into fantasy and made-up stories, it's for sure not for you. Calvin and Hobbes is a great book and you should've used it instead of Castaway..just saying.
