Do I Enjoy Reading?

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say my joy in reading would be right around a 4.5. It's not that I dislike reading, but I just would rather do other things instead of read. I find more joy in actually doing things than reading about other people doing them. For example, instead of reading about kids playing basketball, I would rather experience it myself. The novel Hoops is a great novel, but when reading it I just kept thinking about how much I'd rather be playing basketball rather than reading about it. Despite the fact that prefer other activities over reading, I do want to expand my horizons and read more books. Taking AP Lit helped me begin this quest, but I have yet to go out and rent a book. I may do that over memorial day weekend.

History of My Literacy

The earliest book I can remember reading in my life was Winni the Poo. I had seen TV shows of Winni the Poo before and my parents decided to get the book series for me. They had very little words on each page, but they still were considered books which was a good start for me. After a few years of baby books such as this my parents tried to get me to read the Harry Potter series. My brother really enjoyed the books, and I thought I would too but I just never got on to them. The first book series I truly enjoyed was Calvin and Hobbes. Although this may be considered a comic series, I treated it as a novel series and read each one. I would read them all the time, and they were all I read. By the time I had gotten to sixth grade, for every book report or project I had used Calvin and Hobbes. I was in a for change however, when my sixth grade teacher said I could no longer use Calvin and Hobbes. This is when i was introduced to the novel Holes. I came to love this book more than any other, and it is still my favorite novel to this day.

What book is the best book ever?

In my opinion, the novel Holes by Louis Sachar is the best book ever. I have many reasons to support my opinion. One reason why this is the best novel is because it is the first book I have ever read. I was 11 years old and it was a relatively easy book for me to read, but this did not diminish the meaning of its plot. I found it very interesting how the young boy had to go to prison (juvenile hall) even though he was innocent. Another reason why this book is the best ever is because it is very inspirational. It is inspirational because Stanley's father tries his whole life to figure out a way to make the odor of shoes to be gone. Although it takes him many years to discover the way, he finally does. Nobody should ever give up.
